Peter Mitsopoulos July 2018 Golden Horse Award

On one of the very rainy mornings at the end of March, Peter Mitsopoulos was driving to work on west bound on Interstate 80 just before the Chadborne exit.  He was traveling in the slow lane behind a big rig, when a pickup truck suddenly veered from two lanes over to the right, crossing in front of the big rig.  The pickup barely shot in front of the big rig without getting hit.   It traveled to the shoulder, through the fence toward the bike path on the north side of Interstate 80.  It rolled two or three times and ended up on the bike path.  Peter and the big rig driver were the only ones who stopped to help.  The pickup driver had been thrown for his vehicle.  The first responders said if Peter and the big rig driver had not stopped to help and call 911, the accident victim probably would not have survived because the wreckage could not be seen from the freeway and no one would seen him.  They basically saved the pickup driver’s life.  Peter is an inspiration to all of us for stepping up a to help a stranger.   The Golden Horse Award is given to members who go above and beyond while exemplifying the values of “The Friendliest Little Club.”
